We had an exciting time in PA. It started off when we landed in Baltimore and traveled to NJ that evening. We got turned around while trying to find our way. We'd realize that we should be going the other direction on a freeway so we'd take an exit to get back on the freeway going the other direction, but when we'd take an exit, it would be another freeway taking us even further from where we wanted to be. Then one time Mendi was driving and we came to yet another toll booth. She saw that directly after the toll booth was our exit, so she hurried over to a closer booth only to look up and see that it was a booth for those who have passes. So-she accidentally blew through a toll, but we paid for it at the next toll, although not as much as they could have charged us.

Hello from Camp Gilead!!

I am writing this to let you know that Steve is in surgery right now in Salem, OR.

He and Kacey got home this morning at about 2:30am. When they went into the house, there was a surprise waiting for them. We had been robbed. Theives broke in through our garage door while we were gone. They not only knocked it off it's track, they stole our desktop computer, printer, and several other electronic items, and our window air conditioning unit.

Last year some time we asked people to pray for 12 churches that had indicated they would be interested in supporting us when finances allowed. I wanted to thank you for praying and give an update: Out of those 12 churches, 3 have been able to start supporting us financially, and 2 have restated their interest when finances allow. We now have 19 churches that have stated they would like to support us financially. Please pray for those 19 churches.

HOME STRETCH

We have a feeling that we are on the home stretch of our Pre-Field ministry. We have spent our first term sharing our burden and future ministry in about 100 churches, speaking at camps, to youth groups and individuals. We have seen some come to Christ, dedicate their talents to God, and have even heard of many feeling called to the mission field. Pre-field ministry has been stretching, growing, challenging, rewarding, and at times, frustrating. I'm sure that I've left something out, but you get the idea. We know that we couldn't have done it, or couldn't continue to do it without your support and willingness to serve God. Thank You from the depths of our hearts.

Praise

What an exciting thing to realize that we could take several prayer requests and move them to the praise column. We have been upheld in prayer and can tell. We want to thank you all for your part!! First, Mendi's health was a concern when she had some chest pain upon exhertion in Dec. Two treadmill tests and an ultrasound on her heart revealed a strong heart. We believe acid reflux is the problem there. Pray for us as we change over to a more healthy lifestyle. Next, we sold our Dodge van. Actually, a couple purchased it and gave it to a couple at our church. The wife has Lou Gerig's and hadn't been out of the house for 6 weeks before getting the van and having a wheel chair lift put in it. It was so exciting for us to see God work in that whole situation. PTL!!!!

Dear Prayer Team,

Thank You so much for praying for us. We ask that you keep upholding us in prayer, especially this next three weeks. We will be in Idaho for a conference. Not only are we asking for safety in travel, but for health also. Right now we have one child on meds for strep throat, another running a fever, plus Steve and Mendi battling a stomach bug--all while we're trying to work out details for our oldest to stay here with his Aunt, and trying to pack for the trip.

Is the Pain worth it?

Christmas is normally the time for most of us to focus our attention on the birth of our Savior. We hear or sing songs all month long that talk of Christ's birth and the events that took place before and soon after His miraculous birth. But I have found myself thinking about the reason Christ came to this earth. He came to die. He came to die for me! I have caught myself imagining, or trying to imagine, the pain He went through for me.
